Weems-Botts Museum Benefit

For Immediate Release

Weems-Botts Museum Victorian Christmas Benefit
Silent Auction & All-You-Can-Eat Heavy Hors d’oeuvre Buffet

You won’t want to miss our Silent Auction Museum Benefit! For only $5 you’ll enjoy an evening of delight with heavy hors d’oeuvres including: meatballs, salads, breads, meats and yummy desserts. In addition, you will have a chance to bid on many donated items and gift certificates!

Proceeds from this event will help support living History Programs and the collection’s restoration and preservation at the Weems-Botts Museum.  In the past year, we were thrilled to receive several significant donations such as two circa 1883 silk crazy quilts to share in our museum.  In addition, our deer skin covered traveling trunk from circa 1805 is now distinguished as being one of Virginia’s ten most endangered artifacts by the Virginia Museum Association.  All these objects must be placed in archive-safe environments.  The trunk, one of our most precious acquisitions is in urgent need of restorative preservation so that we may continue to showcase it for years to come.

The Dumfries -Triangle Rescue Squad will be hosting the event on Saturday, November 17, starting at 6:30 pm, with the Silent Auction ending at 9:00 pm.  Throughout dinner and after, you’re free to browse items up for bid. There’s something to please everyone and you’ll know that in addition to receiving a great buy, you’ll be supporting not only our local history, but preserving national history for generations to come.   Please call for tickets today and help support our local history!   If you can’t attend on Saturday, November 17, consider supporting our efforts to protect history by donating a service, certificate, or item for our Silent Auction. You will receive two tickets to the event and a business size card advertising space in the evening’s program.  We hope to see you there!
